In God, the Bible and Everything, BBC comedy writer and ‘stand-up theologian’ James Cary explains the whole Bible, in one hour, with jokes and a big screen. And maybe even a song or two.

In this fast-moving show, written and developed for audiences of all ages, all faiths and none, James Cary shows how familiar Bible stories still in our culture like Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark, the Tower of Babel, David and Goliath and Jesus all fit together. Can he really get through all that in 60 minutes? It will be fun finding out!

About James Cary

James Cary is an extremely experienced comedy writer, with a track record of making audiences laugh out loud. That’s been his job for 20 years, writing episodes of Miranda, My Family, My Hero and Citizen Khan for BBC TV and Hut 33, Think the Unthinkable and Another Case of Milton Jones for BBC Radio 4 – all filmed in front of studio audiences.

James has combined his expertise in comedy and love of scripture in two books, The Gospel According to a Sitcom Writer and The Sacred Art of Joking (SPCK). He has also written stage shows that have delighted churches in the UK including A Monk’s Tale and The God Particle, as well as writing and performing his one-man show Water into Wine.

James has been performing for church audiences for over a decade, delighting congregations and guests all over the UK, as well as Christian festivals like the Keswick Convention and Spring Harvest.

(James will have some books available to buy)

Age Suitability
The show is suitable for adults and teens. There’s nothing to alarm younger
children. Anyone aged 9+ would be fine, although parents need to decide at what
point it’s past bedtime.
